![]() While walking a dog the other evening one of our faithful Derry Policemen was sitting in his car doing paperwork, and we had a chat about the program in passing. It may be that after “fixing” 930 cats in the last four years we are reaching a maintenance level…one can hope anyway. (And yes, the phone is in fine working order.) Usually by this time we have lots of requests to trap/spay/neuter/vaccinate cats, but this year you could grow moss on the phone. ![]() ![]() You can report violations of this ordinance to our department at (717) 534-2202.I know I shouldn’t say this, and it is too early to say with any confidence…and I’m sure the phone will start ringing just to prove me wrong…but our Derry Township Community cat phone line has been incredibly quiet so far this year. I have included a link to the section of the Township Ordinance pertaining to picking up after your dog, and all of the Township Ordinances can be found on the Township of Derry website under the Government link. If you are around the Township parks and trails, there are locations where bags and receptacles can be found. If it happens and you do not have a bag, please get one and go back to clean up your dog's waste. Sometimes we forget a bag when we head out with our four-legged partners (believe me, I have been there). If you walk your dog outside of your property, please clean up after your dog(s) if they deposit waste while you are out and about. ![]() One violation was caught on security video by a resident. ![]() Our department has fielded a couple complaints over the past week or so regarding people failing to clean up after their dogs during walks and exercise.
